Closed Boat Pool Rolling Session, Arlington

Learn to roll your kayak/C-1 or practice on your own in the warmth of a local pool! Sessions meet once a week for five weeks at Arlington Boys and Girls Club on Sundays: 2/13, 2/27, 3/6, 3/13, and 3/20 from 5-7pm. C-1 instruction contingent on availability of C-1 instructors. Sessions are for any closed boaters (K1, C-1); however, due to space limitations in pool, only whitewater boats permitted. Student: $110/members, $130/non-members; Recreational: $60/members, $80/non-members. Limited fleet available for rental; please add $37.50 to cost if required.

Above-Treeline Hiking Workshop (AB2A)

Learn non-technical use of crampons, ice axe, and above-treeline winter hiking techniques on slopes and trails of Mount Washington. Stay in rustic cabin near Pinkham Notch, AMC's Harvard Cabin. Suitable for those in good shape with prior below-treeline winter hiking experience and a desire to turn it up a notch. Gear list provided. $75/members, $80/non-members includes lodging and group-cooked Saturday and Sunday breakfasts, and Saturday dinner at Pinkham. Register after 12/1 with L/CL.

Slow-paced nature walk through forest and field, focusing on plant ID and fun natural history. From 9:00am-12:00pm. Route 2 Exit 59, head west on Route 60/Pleasant Street for 0.6 miles, then turn right on Clifton Street. Take the first left on Fletcher Road and bear left at the fork. Take the next left on Juniper Road and travel 0.2 miles to the sanctuary (10 Juniper). Steady rain or heavy snow cancels. No dogs. Non-AMC members, $1.
