Saturday, May 12, 2018 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM

Spy Pond Trails Day is an all-volunteer work event sponsored by the Town of Arlington, with ample support provided by the AMC Boston Chapter Trail Committee volunteer crews and the AMC Professional Trail Crew since the first annual event in 2005. This year the AMC Boston Chapter Conservation Committee will be joining the Spy Pond Trails Day activities and in conjunction with other local groups we will help remove invasive plants and carefully maintain vistas from the access path onto the pond, for aesthetic enjoyment and to promote public safety.

Wetland restoration at Magazine Beach

Saturday, December 2, 2017 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

We will be digging invasive common reed and purple loosestrife out of the basins near the ballfields so that these areas can be planted with attractive grasses, flowers, and shrubs that will clean rainwater before it enters the Charles and provide bird habitat. Please dress for the weather. Please wear rain or work boots. We will provide gloves and tools, but if you have your own, feel free to bring them. Feel free to drop in for as long as you would like.

Family President's Day Weekend at AMC Noble View Outdoor Center, Russell, MA

Friday, February 16, 2018 12:00 AM to Sunday, February 18, 2018 12:00 AM

Family President's Day Weekend at AMC's Noble View Outdoor Center in the Pioneer Valley, about 1-1/2 hours west of Boston. Activities include hiking, snow shoeing, x-c skiing, and family 'snow fun' like sledding or making snow people! The accommodations are rustic, but comfortable and cozy, heated by wood stoves. The twin beds have mattresses, but we bring pillows, sheets, and blankets or sleeping bags. We need to be flexible regarding sleeping arrangements which may be co-ed to keep families together and some kids will be in sleeping bags on the floor.

DePave the Way! Depaving Party

Saturday, September 9, 2017 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Join AMC and Somerville Climate Action in "depaving" a paved yard in order to allow a permeable surface. Restoring these landscapes to a more natural state allows for better runoff during storms while also providing a better habitat for local wildlife. As Massachusetts most dense city, 77% of Somerville is paved over. Reducing this number (however slightly) benefits all residents while improving the local ecosystems.
