A brisk after-work ride through the western suburbs of Boston. We will go out to the Old North Bridge in Concord. Riders should be able to fix a flat and complete the ride in about 1.5 hrs. Leader will go at a moderate (approx 13-15 mph pace), faster riders are welcome to go ahead. Sustained, heavy rain across metro Boston cancels. Dinner may follow at local restaurant.
Meet at 6:00 for a 6:15 start at Minuteman Statue on Lexington Common.
You can get to the start of the ride by riding from from the Alewife T-stop on the Minuteman Bike-way.

June 21 - June 23. Bike Truro! Stay in the Truro Hostel on outer Cape Cod nestled in the seaside with ocean views. Arrive on Friday pm for a happy hour, spend Saturday and Sunday biking to Provincetown & around the Cape (up to 35 miles @ 11-14 mph). $170.00 includes 2 nights lodging, 2 happy hours with dinner and 2 breakfasts. This ride can be reached by T from North Station and Porter Square. Train leaves at 8:35 and arrives at 9:38. Please tell me if you are coming by train.
Ramble 42 miles through central MA on quiet county roads. We wait for folks at turns. Stops at mile 17, and lunch at mile 31 (we need to get there before 2 PM). Route has three hills in the first half of the ride and relatively flat after that. There is a short cut after mile 17 that gets you to lunch seven miles earlier.
Escape to Providence, RI to enjoy extended smoothly paved trail for 30km inside a green tunnel of trees & farms. Hop onto narrow country roads to reach Foster Country Club for lunch. We stop for late lunch, likely around 14:00.
Bring extra snacks to eat on the train. Lunch will be late mid way through the ride, likely around 14:00. Several sandwich, vegetarian, burger, & salad options available. There are few other stops or facilities along the way. Carry extra water & snacks accordingly.
Bicycle tour at leisurely pace to enjoy colorful views from top of Wachusett Mountain & country roads to Concord. Warm up on the gentle climb from Wachusett commuter rail station for the first 10km, before the steep climb starts to Wachusett observation tower, passing under the ski chair lifts. Lunch stop is in Princeton: bread, soup, salad, & sandwiches at Mountainside Market.
It is a long rolling descent afterwards for about 30km until we climb to Harvard for warm coffee at the general store.
Led 36 and 54 mile rides in the buccolic Charles river valley west from Needham followed by an optional social. Be ready to bike at 10:00. from Needham Junction MBTA Commuter Rail Lot at Chestnut and Junction Streets in Needham. No registration is required if capable a pace of 12-14 mph on the 36 mile ride and 13-15 mph on the 54 mile ride. Mike has been biking since junior high and has been leading rides with the AMC since he moved here in the 1990's. He leads rides from evening rides to local day trips to regional weekends to week long tours in New England and in Tuscany and the Czech Republic for AMCs Adventure Travel Program.
A twist on Cape in a Day with a new route, trails, coastal views, bakeries, & a challenge: bicycle 170km in 9 hours or overall average of 19km/h. This fall edition is designed for shorter days, compared with similar challenge last year.
