This bicycling experience is a bit off the beaten path from typical AMC rides. The ride traverses metro Boston on the city's many bike paths and bike lanes in a loop around the city, taking in the many sights and points of interest. The ride will start at South Station, passing down the Greenway to Atlantic Avenue, and continue onto the USS Constitution. The ride then loops back along the Charles River, through the Fenway and Emerald Necklace and onto Jamaica Pond. It continues through the Arnold Arboretum to a lunch break off the path in Jamaica Plain.
Join us for an easy/intermediate Tiverton Rhode Island area 42 mile bike tour. We will bike at around a 12-14 mph average speed, keeping slow enough to enjoy the scenery while fast enough to burn off some treats. If needed, there is a 32-mile self guided short cut, with the split at about mile 15.
Mike has been biking since junior high and has been leading rides with the AMC since he moved here in the 1990's. He leads rides from evening rides to local day trips to regional weekends to week long tours in New England and in Tuscany and the Czech Republic for AMCs Adventure Travel Program.
This ride is accessible by T from Boston. Get off at Nantasket Junction (http://www.mbta.com/schedules_and_maps/rail/lines/?route=GREENBSH&direct...). There should be plenty of time to get to the start if you take the 8:05 train. (Let me know if you are taking the train.)
