For those hearty souls out there who would like to participate in a bracing November ride, please join us for a nice cruise over mostly flat to rolling terrain that has something of interest for everyone. The route goes down into Stonington Village en route to Stonington Point and its marvelous views of Fishers Island Sound to the southwest and Block Island Sound to the southeast. The route then heads inland up and past wine country into No. Stonington Village. The route heads back toward the ocean and features a lovely ride along the Mystic River.
Bicycling - Road
Cycle 44 or 34 miles(with a Lexington start) to ice cream at Great Brook SP. Route follows mostly quiet back roads and bike paths through Arlington, Lexington, Concord, Chelmsford and Carlisle. Meet by the Uncle Sam statue in Arlington Center on the Minuteman Trail at 8:30 AM, or the Minuteman Statue in Lexington at 9:00 AM. Start is accessible from Alewife T-station. (Intermediate) Follow the Leader Ride. Approx. 20 miles some hills, starting andending at farm pond in Sherborn. Must have helmet, water, good bike,ability to keep the 13-16 mph pace. Welcome to the Knubble Bay Camp Weekend! Knubble Bay Camp is an AMC owned cabin on the Maine coast near Bath. Primary activities are kayaking and cycling. We plan on one day of cycling (includes a visit to a state park complete with a beach and a local conservation area for some hiking plus lunch at a lobster shack!), and one day of kayaking with exploration of lots of coves, and tramping about on a large island. The cabin is fully equipped with composting toilets, mattresses, and a water from an outside pump. We will provide Sat Breakfast and Dinner, and Sun Breakfast.
Please join me for a lovely 38 mile moderately paced autumn ride in and around Little Compton RI. A little known historical fact. The Rhode Island Red is a breed of chicken originally bred in Adamsville, a small village that is part of Little Compton. Little Compton is the only place in the United States with a monument dedicated to a chicken (really it's true!). We will visit a couple of beaches and get plenty of ocean views. Feel free to bring your lunch or purchase something in Little Compton. You must have a bike in good working order and of course helmets are required.
