Memorial Day Weekend Block Island Biking/Hiking Trip
Forty Plus Date: Fri May 25, 2012 - Mon May 28, 2012Come with us to scenic Block Island. Stay at a beautiful inn and cottage overlooking Old Harbor. Daily guided combined biking/hiking tours. Beal Island Canoe Trip

The Spring Hiking Classic (B3B)
Hiking/Backpacking Date: Sat May 26, 2012 - Mon May 28, 2012Start your 2012 hiking season off right with three of the most scenic hikes in the Whites. Drive up Sat morning and climb Chocorua (8 miles/2250' gain), Sunday traverse the Franconia ridge from Mt Liberty to Mt Lafayette (9 miles/3800'), and Monday ascend the Frankenstein Cliffs and visit the Arethusa Falls, NH's highest waterfall (4.5 miles/1300'). We'll stay at the Shapleigh bunkhouse co-located with the AMC's Highland Center in Crawford Notch. $140/pp covers two nights lodging, two breakfasts, two dinners, and snacks for a happy hour (BYOB) on Sat and Sun evenings. We will start our trip at Lincoln Woods Visitor Center, will head out to Guyot campsite passing all three Bonds on our way. Second day we will continue toward Garfield campsite, while summiting South Twin and Galehead and possibly seeing sunset at Garfield. Third day we will continue our hike on Franconcia Ridge thru Lafayette, Lincoln and Little Haystack and head down after stopping at Mt. Liberty. ~ 28 miles , ~ 9600 elevation gain/loss. Limited to 8. Local Walks/Hikes Date: Sun May 27, 2012Six miles, mostly wooded hike including Beaver Brook Reservation, from 10:00a.m.-1:30p.m. Bring a lunch. From I-95/Route 128, take Exit 28A/Trapelo Road 3.4 miles east to the third set of lights, then turn right onto Waverly Oaks Road, and take an immediate left into the parking lot.
