Inactive and active young member leaders and co-leaders, those who have completed leadership training through AMC or its equivalent, for example, NOLS, are encouraged to sign up to help lead trips, socials, events and meetings for the Boston Chapter. Great way to meet people, meet hiking/camping/backpacking/biking/rock-climbing partners and to get out and help fulfill AMC mission of preserving the Northeast outdoors.

Come with us to scenic Block Island. Stay at a beautiful inn and cottage overlooking Old Harbor. Daily guided combined biking/hiking tours. Cost $275, includes accommodations and 3 breakfasts. Tidewater Canoe and Sea Kayak Camping Weekend. Easy paddling, good food and informal instruction available. This is a good introduction to a Tidewater Paddling area that is ideal for sea kayaking. Start your 2012 hiking season off right with three of the most scenic hikes in the Whites. Drive up Sat morning and climb Chocorua (8 miles/2250' gain), Sunday traverse the Franconia ridge from Mt Liberty to Mt Lafayette (9 miles/3800'), and Monday ascend the Frankenstein Cliffs and visit the Arethusa Falls, NH's highest waterfall (4.5 miles/1300'). We'll stay at the Shapleigh bunkhouse co-located with the AMC's Highland Center in Crawford Notch. $140/pp covers two nights lodging, two breakfasts, two dinners, and snacks for a happy hour (BYOB) on Sat and Sun evenings. Class II whitewater paddling on the Fife Brook section of the Deerfield River. Equipment rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
7-mile hike in the eastern section of the Blue Hills Reservation viewing wildflowers and climbing scenic hills, some steep, including the new trail along the restored Blue Hill Reservoir. 10 am-3:30 pm. Meet at Shea Ice Rink, Willard St., Quincy. From SE Expressway Exit 8 in Quincy, go south 0.6 miles on Willard St. Or from I-93/Route 128 Exit 6 in Braintree, go north 0.7 miles. Or for public transit take Bus 238 from Quincy Center T station. Joint with Friends of the Blue Hills. No dogs; non-AMC members $1.
