Bassets island in Buzzard's Bay

Paddling Date: Sat September 5, 2015

Explore the northeast section of Buzzards bay on this ~10 mile long level 2 paddle. We expect to paddle from Monk's cove, around Wings Neck, to Bassets island for lunch and leisurely break, and then return the same way.

This is a reasonably sheltered trip, but we will paddle past the relatively exposed canal radar station on Wing's neck and should expect the Buzzards Bay afternoon seabreeze. This does create a bit of chop in a 1/2 mile section, so paddlers should be prepared to deal with 2'wavesp and 15 kt winds. Depending on the group and weather forecast, we may spot a car near Basset's island for those who don't feel like paddling through chop in the afternoon.

This is a L2 trip: you must have a PFD and a 14' or longer kayak with bulkheads fore and aft, or proper buoyancy bags.

Adventures on the MITA trail: Muscongus Bay

Paddling Date: Sat September 5, 2015 - Mon September 7, 2015

Three days paddling in Muscongus Bay, Maine. This quiet bay is out of the way and offers much to explore. We plan on paddling 12-18 miles per day, including venture out to Eastern Egg to watch puffins (if conditions permit). This is level 3 trip and participants must have some experience packing, launching, and maneuvering loaded kayaks. There is open water crossings, so expect some swells. Camping does not mean we eat granola bars for dinner! Our boats can carry lots of goodies (and beer), so we live well on the islands.
