Slow-paced nature walk in search of a variety of autumn fruits and wildflowers. The walk will focus on plant ID and natural history. 9:30am-12:30pm. From Concord rotary, take Rte 2 West 2.2 miles, Right on Taylor Road 0.7 miles to Arboretum on right. Arrive early, parking limited. (Note - sign faces opposite direction). Steady rain cancels. 5-mile walk along Neponset River to Hutchinson Field, 9:30am-12:15pm. Bring snack. Meet at Hallet Street entrance to Pope John Paul II Park. From Route 93N, take exit 11 (11B from Route 93S) to Granite Avenue, north over Neponset River, immediate right on Hilltop Street, right under bridge into parking lot. E-mail if severe weather. Meet at NOON at parking lot by church on Central Turnpike in West Sutton [near 660 Central Turnpike, GPS 42.114499 - 71.799750]. Leave some cars and drive to end of Rocky Hill Road off Route12 in Oxford. Hike south 6.5 miles to West Sutton.
Moderate-to-strenuous hike including Skyline Trail, 9:30am-2:30pm. Bring lunch/water/sturdy footwear. From I-93/Route 128 Exit 3, travel north for 0.5 mi. to the stop sign, turn right on Hillside St. Go 0.2 mi. to Houghton's Pond lot on right. Heavy rain cancels. No dogs; non-AMC members $1.

Meet 10:00am at Route 16 trail crossing in Douglas [Near 200 Webster Street, GPS 42.056044 - 71.786750]. Leave some cars there and shuttle to parking lot by church on Central Turnpike in West Sutton. Hike south to Route 16, 6.2 miles. No dogs; non-AMC members $1.
Fast-paced 7-mi walk along Wollaston Beach, Marina Bay, Squantum, 9:00am-noon. Bring snack/water. From SE Expwy, exit 8(Quincy), take Furnace Brook Pkwy. 2.8mi, L onto Quincy Shore Dr. L at first light into lot. Storm cancels. No dogs; non-AMC members $1.
Sheepfold Pkg. lot. Mod to stren. 6-7 mi. hike over many hills & rough terrain. 9:00am-2:00pm. Bring lunch, H2O, snacks. Rte. 93 S to exit 35. At stop sign, go L under highway. At next stop sign go R. At first set of lights turn R onto Rte. 28. Turn R into Sheepfold entrance. Rte. 93 N to exit 33 (Route 28). Sheepfold entrance is 2 miles up on the L. Cancel if rain. Enjoy our historical heritage, appreciate the wonder which is the Back Bay and learn more about Frederick Olmsted. We will walk about 6 miles at a moderate pace with stops to enjoy major sights but we should be done by 12:30pm. We will meet at the Arlington T stop, in front of Hermes at the corner of Boylston and Arlington at 9:30am. From the Commonwealth Mall to Park Drive to the Muddy River to Jamaica Pond and on to the Arboretum. Most of the Necklace will be covered. End at Forest Hills T on the Orange Line. The exact route will be determined by the leader on the fly, but we are sure to see beaver ponds, eskers, streams, upland forest, and generally pretty New England woods. Walk south through Douglas State Forest past R.I. border-about 9 miles total on rolling terrain, moderate pace. No dogs; non-AMC members $1.
6-mile. hike, some rocky steep hills to cliff views including waterfall w/lunch at pond, Moderate-rated hike, not for beginners. 10:00am-2:30pm. Bring lunch/water/hiking shoes. Meet on Washington St. side of Oak Grove T sta. From Rte. 93 exit 32 in Medford take Rte. 60 E 1.2 mi., L on Highland Ave. 0.5 mi., R on Glenwood St. 0.6 mi., L on Wash. Level 5-mi. walk along historic canal N to Chelmsford, 1:30-4pm. Joint Middlesex Canal Association - Appalachian Mountain Club Fall Walk. Meet at 1:30pm at the Middlesex Canal Museum and Visitor Center at the Faulkner Mill at 71 Faulkner Street in North Billerica. The Museum and Visitor Center, including the bookstore, will open at 12 noon. The 2-2½ hour walk will cover part of the Merrimack branch of the canal in Billerica and Chelmsford, about 3 to 4 miles over generally level wooded terrain and streets. Sites to visit en route will include a guard lock, the anchor stone for the floating towpath that bridged the Concord River, and many stretches of watered canal. From Rte. 95/128, take Rte. 3 N to exit 28, Treble Cove Rd., L towards N. Billerica 1.7 mi., L on Rte. 3A/129 0.7 mi., R on Lowell St. 0.7 mi. becomes Faulkner St., cross river at Faulkner Mills, R into pkg. lot opp. Middlesex Canal Museum. A 7 mile quiet, hilly wander 9:30am-3:30pm through varied woodlands on well maintained trails. Meet by Peabody Mill Environmental Center, Brook Rd, Amherst, NH. From Nashua, NH, Rte. 3 exit 7, 101A W to junction 101 E (7.4mi) toward Amherst/Manchester. Turn left after 5.7mi on Horace Greeley Rd, left again 0.4mi on Brook Rd. Go 1.4mi to pkg at dead end.
