Fast paced 6 mile hike thru the Estabrook woods. Relatively easy flat trails, but with occasional root and rock obstacles. Park on the left hand side at the end of Estabrook Road in Concord between designated parking signs. Parking/trailhead location relative to Concord center is shown on map at https://sites.google.com/site/estabrookwalk/ (display map on monitor, not cell). Hiking route is also marked. Meet at 1:00pm in the parking lot on Middleton Rd. in Boxford, at the steel gate. Take Rte. 95 and use exit 51 on the Topsfield-Boxford line. Go west (left if heading north, right if heading south on 95) and then an immediate right on Middleton Rd. Go about 1 mile to parking area on left. Easy terrain. moderate pace, kids and dogs welcome, time about 2 hours.
Fast-paced 7-mi. hike to remote scenic areas including Fox Hill, Slide Notch, and the Kitchamakin ledges, 9:30am-2:00pm. Bring lunch, water. Meet at Shea Ice Rink, Willard St., Quincy. From SE Expwy exit 8 in Quincy, go S 0.6 mi. on Willard St. Or from Rte. 93/128 exit 6 in Braintree, go N 0.7 mi. Bus 238 from Quincy Ctr. T sta. No reg. Storm cancels.
Enjoy our historical heritage, appreciate the wonder which is the Back Bay and learn more about Frederick Olmsted. We will walk about 6 miles at a moderate pace with stops to enjoy major sights but we should be done by 12:30pm. We will meet at the Arlington T stop, in front of Hermes at the corner of Boylston and Arlington at 9:30am. From the Commonwealth Mall to Park Drive to the Muddy River to Jamaica Pond and on to the Arboretum. Most of the Necklace will be covered. End at Forest Hills T on the Orange Line. We will cross 2 or 3 roads but otherwise be off the roads. No dogs; non-AMC members $1.
Meet at 1:00pm. This is a flat stroll along a scenic former bend of the Nashua River no longer in the main flow and popular with wildlife, parts of the active Nashua River, and through New England forest in fall splendor. Meet at the entrance on Nod Road across from Common St, 42.63009N 71.57936W, about 2 hours.
5 mile morning hike around Ponkapoag and side trails, 9:30-noon. Bring snack. From I-93, Exit 2. Go south on Rte. 138 1/4 mile to Ponkapoag parking lot on left. Heavy rain cancels. No dogs; $1 non-AMC members.

Directions: From North or South: Take Rte. 3 to Exit 11. Exit roundabout at 2nd turn from either direction which is Congress/West Street for 1.8 miles. (stay right at fork,continuing on West St.). Straight at traffic light onto St. George Street 1.1 miles to Washington Street, Left for 30 yards and then immediate right onto Powder Point Road. 1.0 mile to the Powder Point Bridge Parking lot before bridge. 6-mile hike, some rocky steep hills to cliff views including waterfall w/lunch at pond. Moderate-rated hike, not for beginners. 10:00am-2:30pm. Bring lunch/water/hiking shoes. Meet on Washington St. side of Oak Grove T sta. From Rte. 93 exit 32 in Medford take Rte. 60 E 1.2 mi., L on Highland Ave. 0.5 mi., R on Glenwood St. 0.6 mi., L on Wash. Three-mile leisurely walk along a scenic section of historic canal to Patch's Pond, 1:30pm. See oxbow, grooves in rocks from tow lines, and stone aqueduct. I-95/Route 128 Exit 35 (Woburn), Route 38N for 2.4 miles to the Wilmington Town Park lot on the left. Joint trip with Middlesex Canal Association. Slow-paced nature walk through fields and forests to Grassy Pond looking for autumn wildflowers and fruits. The walk will focus on plant ID and fun natural history. 1:00-4:00pm. Rte. 2 to Exit 42 (Rte 27/Main St, Acton). Follow Rte 27 north for about 1 mile through Acton Center and turn left on Nagog Hill Rd. Go 1.1 miles. Parking lot on left just past small meadow. Heavy rain cancels. No dogs; non-AMC members $1. Boot Boutwell is a freelance itinerant naturalist who teaches and leads nature walks for Mass Audubon, the New England Wild Flower Society, the Winchester Public Schools, and the Friends of the Middlesex Fells as well as the AMC.

At first lights, R onto Rte. 28, R into Sheepfold entrance. From the south, take Rte. 93N to exit 33 (Route 28). Entrance on L (2 mi.). Rain cancels.
Moderately fast-paced walk. Explore Ft. Point Channel, Marine Industrial Park, Seaport District, Rowe's Wharf, Rose Kennedy Greenway. 10:00am-2:00pm. Meet at South Station (Red Line T) indoors at exit to Dewey Square. Bring lunch, water. Storm cancels. No dogs, non-AMC members $1. New members welcome.
8.5 mile. hike w/lunch at scenic pond, 9:30am-2:00pm. Bring lunch/water/hiking shoes. Rte. 3 Exit 14 to Rte. 228N toward Hingham, 4 mi. to Wompatuck sign, then R on Free St. 1.3 mi. to visitor center pkg. lot. Email if severe weather. No dogs; non-AMC members $1.
Moderate-to-strenuous 8-mile hike. 10:00am-3:00pm. Bring lunch, water, and snacks. Route 2 Exit 28. Follow Route 31S for 8.5 miles to Route 62W for 0.6 miles. Turn right on Goodnow Road, at the Wachusett Meadows Sanctuary sign. Parking lot is 1 mile down on the left. $4 donation if not Audubon member. Rain cancels. No dogs. Non-AMC members, $1.
Enjoy a leisurely afternoon walk along wooded trails with scenic views. Meet at 1:30pm at the Goldsmith Reservation trailhead, 491 South Main Street (Rte. 28) just south of the intersection with Gould Road. Take I-93 to exit 41, go north on Route 125, exit at Route 28N. 9:30am-2:30pm. Meet at Grassy Hill parking lot off Nagog Hill Rd, Acton (see links below), S side of Nagog Hill Rd. From Rte.2, exit Rte.27 N toward Acton for 1.1mi., L Nagog Hill Rd. for 1.2mi to Grassy Pond pkg. area on L. This 7½ mi. route wanders through a portion of Acton's Nagog Hill area, hugs the shore of Nagog Pond, loops through the hilly Sarah Doublet area in Littleton where we plan to have lunch and offer an optional excursion to Fort Pond via a short spur trail. Our return covers the remaining portion of Nagog Pond. No dogs; non-AMC members $1.
