Want to try hiking or backpacking or feeling rusty and want to brush up on your knowledge and skills? This Hiking/Backpacking (HB) Committee Annual 3-Season Hiking Program is designed for adults, but parents are welcome to attend with their "older" children, in addition to accompanying them on associated hikes. This is an interactive course consisting of 5 instructional sessions to introduce the basics of spring, summer and fall day hiking and backpacking in New England. Instruction topics for the 5 evenings include: clothing, footwear, nutrition, essential gear, and backcountry stewardship. Participants are given a choice of day hikes, lodge based trips and backpacks exclusive to the program to practice new skills and to get outside with experienced AMC leaders. Program participants get the most out of the program by going on as many trips as possible. Day hikes and weekend events are offered starting the first Saturday after the program begins and run through the summer. The Cardigan Lodge Weekend (May 19-21) and the Beginner Backpacking Trip (June 2-4) are capstone trips for this program. Course fee $60 pp or $90 non-member includes all lectures, digital course manual, and a current White Mountain Guide with maps. Additional charges may apply to some trips. Advanced registration for the program is required at https://regi.amcboston.org/1311. This class fills quickly! Questions? Contact Paul Terenzi, Firemanpaul@comcast.net.Directions:
