Join us for three days and two nights to explore the Easternmost high hut of the White Mountains and the AMC's best-kept secret - Carter Notch Hut (3288') in its unimaginably beautiful winter setting! Enjoy a snowy weekend of hiking, focusing on scenery, good company and great food. We will hike from 19-Mile Brook TH (1487') for 3.8 miles (1991' elev. gain) to the unheated rustic Carter Notch Hut. On Sunday we will hike 1.3 miles to the summit of Carter Dome (4832'), continue on Carter-Moriah trail for 0.8 miles to Mt. Hight (4,675') and then back to the hut (RT 4.2 miles, 2,007' elev. gain). On Monday we will hike about 3.0 miles from the hut up and over the hogbacks from Wildcats A (4422'), B (4305'), C (4285'), D (4062') and then hike down about 2.7 miles on Wildcat Polecat ski trail to Wildcat Ski Parking Lot C (2112'). The Hut sleeps 40 in 2 unheated bunkhouses. The cooking and dining areas are heated after 4 pm in winter, but the remote bunkhouses are not. A winter sleeping bag, 0°F to -20°F, is required. All participants will be responsible for providing their own lunches (Sat, Sun & Mon) and snacks (Sat, Sun & Mon).
